I've helped hundreds of families relocate to Northeast Ohio — from Michigan, Texas, California, the East Coast, and everywhere in between. And if there's one thing I've learned, it's this: the move itself is the easy part. It's everything else that keeps people up at night.
As a Certified Relocation Professional (CRP), I specialize in making this transition as smooth as possible. Here's what I tell every client before they arrive.
You're not just buying a house — you're choosing a community.
In a relocation, you don't have the luxury of knowing which neighborhoods feel right, which schools are actually good (not just rated on a website), or which commute is manageable in winter. That's where I come in. I spend the first conversation learning about your lifestyle, your priorities, and your non-negotiables — then I curate a shortlist that fits.
Northeast Ohio is more affordable than you think.
Most of my relocation clients are shocked by how far their budget goes here compared to where they're coming from. A $400K budget in Northeast Ohio gets you a beautiful, well-maintained home in a top-rated school district — often with a yard, a garage, and space to breathe. That same budget in many coastal or major metro markets gets you a condo.
School districts matter more here than you'd expect.
Ohio school districts vary enormously — even within the same county. Medina City Schools, Hudson, Solon, Orange, and Beachwood are consistently ranked among the best in the state. But "best" depends on what you value: academics, athletics, arts, class size, diversity, or community involvement. I help families match their priorities to the right district.
The seasons are real — and they're beautiful.
Yes, it snows. Yes, winters can be long. But Northeast Ohio has four genuinely distinct seasons, and each one has its own magic. Fall foliage that rivals New England. Summers at the lake. Spring farmers markets. And a holiday season that feels like a Hallmark movie. The key is finding a home with a good commute, a heated garage, and a fireplace.
You can buy sight unseen — but you shouldn't buy alone.
Many of my relocation clients purchase homes they've never physically walked through. I provide detailed video tours, neighborhood walkthroughs, and honest assessments of every property. But more importantly, I'm your eyes, ears, and gut check. If I wouldn't buy it for my own family, I'll tell you.
Timing is everything.
The biggest stress point for relocation clients isn't finding a home — it's timing the sale of their current home with the purchase of the new one. If your employer has a relocation deadline, we need to work backward from that date to ensure every milestone — listing, inspections, closing, move-in — happens on schedule. I've managed this dozens of times. It's stressful, but it's manageable with the right plan.
The first 90 days matter.
After closing, I don't disappear. I help with contractor recommendations, utility setup, school enrollment, and finding your new favorite restaurant. The first 90 days in a new city are overwhelming, and having a local guide — not just a real estate agent — makes all the difference.
If you're relocating to Northeast Ohio — whether it's next month or next year — I'd love to start the conversation. The earlier we connect, the smoother the transition.
